Why The Nokia N9 Will Fail June 22, 2011

The Blue Nokia N9

Yesterday (June 21, 2011) Nokia announced their new flagship device, the N9. The N9 runs the MeeGo operating system and is equipped with a 1GHz Cortex A8 chip and a monstrous 1GB of RAM. The phone also sports an 8 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics.

To me, the Nokia N9 is a disaster waiting to happen. This is because the MeeGo OS will likely be killed off to make room for Nokia’s new line of Windows Phone 7 devices. There is then the strong possibility that the N9 will be the only phone to ever run the MeeGo operating system. This will inconvenience consumers because of the lack of MeeGo support in the future.
